Event Recap: Screening of Poor Things

This Wednesday, we hosted our first movie screening from our Greenpoint studio! Thanks to everyone who was able to come hang, snack, sip & watch with us. For those who missed out on this event, here’s a quick rundown of how things went:

Making the most of the front studio space, we moved our seating area (couch, hand chair, floor pillows, etc.) from the front of the studio to the center of the floor space. We rolled out a white seamless and streamed Poor Things from a computer/projector set up on the opposite side of the room, making for a comfy, effortless lil movie theater of our own. A few bags of popcorn and (quite) a few bottles of white and red later, we were settled in with both new and old friends to watch the formidable talent that is Academy Award Winner Emma Stone (and to gawk over the incredible set design, costume design, star-studded cast, brilliant shots, color grading… you get the point).

In true wine-driven, women-loving fashion, we shouted in support and fervent love for the women who made this movie what it was—a tale of agency, self-discovery, self-re invention, and sweet sweet revenge. While both Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe’s performances were equally well-appreciated (the two of them showing they’re simply the best at being the worst) Kathryn Hunter, Suzy Bemba and Hanna Schygulla, simply put, stole our hearts. In short, the movie was incredibly real, timely, and perfect for our first screening night. Definitely worth the watch (and re-watch) for those who have yet to see it.

Keep an eye out for upcoming events and social nights—exciting multimedia art-making classes to be announced very soon! Hope to see you here at the studio soon.
