Parallel Play: Grace Mitzen & Tyler Gundrum
Join us in our Greenpoint studio on Wednesday, November 13th at 7 pm for the opening night reception of Parallel Play! This multimedia pop-up show will showcase a range of works by longtime friends Grace Mitzen and Tyler Gundrum. Though distinct in their practices, both artists share a complementary approach to creativity–rooted in the uninhibited freedom and playfulness of childhood. Parallel Play celebrates the playful spirit that emerges as friends bring their unique expressions together in a shared creative experience.
Tyler Gundrum presents a range of ceramic work from the past three years, exploring texture, form, and function through both functional and sculptural pieces. Grace Mitzen debuts a focused series where she augments printed photographs with delicate watercolor, creating dreamlike mixed-media works that blur the line between “reality” and the mystical. Together, they push themselves in their respective mediums, inviting the audience into a space where experimentation and joy take center stage.
No RSVP necessary & free entry! Viewing hours November 14 - 16 from 12 - 5pm daily.
About the Artists
Grace Mitzen is a Brooklyn-based multimedia artist working with analog photography, illustration, painting, and creative writing. Her organic and intuitive approach to her work is rooted in her practice of self-discovery and spirituality. To her, every creation comes from a place of play; letting go of what a piece “should” be, and returning to a child-like curiosity of its infinite possibilities.
Since moving to the Hudson Valley in 2021, Tyler Gundrum’s approach to ceramics has undergone a subtle, yet impactful transformation. Departing from the strictly utilitarian focus of his undergrad years, his works have leaned towards sculpture. Central to his narrative is the exploration of the passage of time and the inevitable change it brings. Each of his works reflects the nuances of aging and the relentless march of nature's cycles, inviting viewers to ponder the beauty found in the transient moments of existence and entropy.

No RSVP necessary & free entry! Viewing hours December 5 - 7 from 12 - 5pm daily.
About the Artist
“After graduating with my BFA in Musical Theater from Emerson College, I decided I wanted to make art in a different way. I have drawn away from the rigorous audition schedule recently to pursue visual and multimedia art as well as start my own arts collective to give emerging artists opportunities to learn, exhibit, and create art in collaboration with a community of like minded creators. My personal mediums intertwine mold making practices, paper mache, beading/embroidery, and strategic use of light. I enjoy combining varied techniques and often find my process for creation as I go. I begin with a vision for the final output, but the journey to accomplish the piece is long and winding.”

Thots4Thoughts x ZDS Creative: Hottie Heartbreak
Join Thots4Thoughts at ZDS Creative’s multimedia studio Friday, July 12th from 7-10 pm for a night of curated conversations on relationship loss, intimacy and connection—and a little chisme—facilitated by Darielle Fernandez (she/they) and ramelcy uribe (she/they).
We ask that you come to this event with an item of significance for a pre-prepared heartbreak altar, your journal (crafting materials will be provided, but we encourage you to come with items familiar and comfortable to you), and ready to participate in conversations centering queer/Black and POC voices.
“In a world that hyper-fixates on romantic love, but more often than not gives us measly breadcrumbs, objectification, and heartbreak after heartbreak — there are not enough spaces for exploring hope and hopelessness in love! I am Black, Trans, non-passing, and dating fucking sucks! I don’t know what consistent and reciprocal love feels like, but I do know what it feels like to be used and fetishized. My heart has been broken by the man I loved and by the world around him. And so, I’m carving grace and community where loss has been.”
- Darielle Fernandez
Admission for this event is $5-15 on a sliding scale. Pay what you can at the door!
About the Facilitators
Darielle Fernandez (she/they) is an Afro-LatinX Trans-Femme. She works to bring healing justice spaces to the hood and its most marginalized communities. She is a sex educator, an artist, a healer, a facilitator, and a new graduate from Columbia University with a degree in African American Studies and Education. She works to show people that the hood is a beautiful and magical place full of brilliance and love. Darielle is a kink-positive trailblazer in Gender/Sexuality theory. She loves to think about sex in its most complex and raw form. Her passion is diving into the connection Black Trans-people have with horror, consent, and kinkiness. She is an engaging and funny facilitator who will leave you questioning the sex-based values you take for granted.
ramelcy uribe (she/they, ella/elle) is a youngish queer Black Dominicana from The Bronx. First and foremost, ramelcy is a sister, a daughter, a caregiver, and a fierce friend. She is also a youth worker, organizer, and certified Healing Centered Coach. She lives for curating spaces of connection, learning, and joy. No matter where they are or who she’s working with, you can count on ramelcy to invite curiosity, vulnerability and tenderness, and Black femme wisdom to the center. And can’t forget, expect to be challenged on our relationship hierarchies and compulsory monogamy! In their full-time work, they root in intersectional care logistics and healing justice frameworks to co-create and co-curate spaces that honor, deepen, and celebrate the brilliance of queer and trans, BIPOC communities. They’re a total nerd about operationalizing care in our movements and experiencing liberation in our bodies, in our lifetimes.
